Diana Gabaldon has finished writing Outlander Book 9

Need a good update about Outlander Book 9? We got one over the weekend. Diana Gabaldon has finished writing the novel.

Yes, you read that right. Diana Gabaldon has finished writing Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. It’s news that we’ve waited a few years for, and it’s exciting to see the confirmation.

Gabaldon shared the update in a tweet with a screenshot of the last page. It simply reads “The End.”

This does not mean it’s the end of the overall series. It’s the end of Outlander Book 9. THAT’S IT!

When will Outlander Book 9 be released?

Of course, with the news that the book writing is finished, loyal readers want to know when they can read the book. When will it be published?

That’s something that is still not decided. Gabaldon even made that clear in the initial tweet, although it hasn’t stopped people from questioning it.

It’s the publisher who decides on the date. Go Tell the Bees When I Am Gone could be released before the end of 2021, but there’s no guarantee of that right now. COVID-19 has affected a lot, and that includes the publication of books. It’s something Gabaldon warned us about a while ago when Nell Hudson announced her book would be published in 2022.

We may be waiting a little longer purely because there’s so much to do once the book is written. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we have a publication date.

That publication date will be for the hardback copy of the book. It will also be the release date for the audiobook. The paperback and other versions will take a little longer to arrive.

For now, we can just rejoice that the writing for Outlander Book 9 is finished.
