Brianna learns Jocasta’s plans for River Run in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 55

Brianna continues to spend time at River Run in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 55, but it’s clear that she’s not allowed to just wait for Roger. Jocasta has a few plans.

This is the chapter that Bree learns about Jocasta’s plans. Jamie may not have wanted River Run, but Brianna isn’t going to get a choice in the matter. To get River Run, she’s going to need a man, and that leads to finding potential suitors.

What about Roger? We’ll get to that.

It’s another short chapter in the series. I do wish that we could spend more time in Brianna’s thoughts about Roger, her pregnancy, and her life at River Run. Instead, this chapter ends with her learning more about Ulysses, who seems to be too happy to share his story. I’ll admit that this just didn’t feel natural to me.

There is foreshadowing in the chapter when it comes to Ulysses’s story. I think there’s also foreshadowing in Jocasta’s feelings for Roger. These are things I’ll cover in that section of the breakdown.
