The Nevers trailer: The Touched vs. the Purists

We already know Laura Donnelly can steal a show. She did so as Jenny on Outlander. Now it’s time to see her lead in The Nevers official trailer.

This is one of the shows we’ve been waiting for during Droughtlander. There are many reasons it would be Sassenach’s cup of tea, if only for Donnelly in the lead. It’s also a period drama and there are some magical elements.

There’s even a bit of time traveling…sort of. The Nevers trailer gives us a look at Donnelly’s character’s abilities. She’s able to see the future, which means she knows where she’ll be in a given fight. She’s certainly using it to her advantage.

The Nevers focuses on oppressing those who are different

While the show is a period drama, there are going to be a lot of topics that resonate today. The series focuses on a group called The Touched. They are women with special abilities, and naturally, that makes people scared of them.

Some will just let them live, but there are others who want to wipe them out of existence. They fear what The Touched could do, and they fear what The Touched mean for life as they know it. These people are the Purists, but Donnelly’s character points out that there are more enemies that they don’t even know.

When is The Nevers coming to HBO?

The series will head to HBO Now and HBO Max. You’ll get to watch it starting Sunday, April 11.
