Roger has to run the gauntlet in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 54

We get back to Roger during Outlander Book 4, Chapter 54. It’s time to find out where he’s ended up and whether there’s a chance Claire and Jamie can get to him in time.

In the previous chapter, we learned that Roger was now with the Mohawks. That’s something Roger learns while he’s in captivity, figuring out some of the language during his time with the tribe. However, the knowledge that he’s with the Mohawks concerns him, and considering what we know from books and movies about the Mohawks, that isn’t all too surprising. We have to remember what he would have learned in the 1950s and 1960s.

This chapter introduces a character that isn’t important to the future of the overall story but is essential in Roger’s character development at this point. Father Alexandre appears, and Roger gets the chance to interact with him.

Naturally, this chapter had to be used for the series. We had to see where Roger was and the fact that his life was in danger. The show just changed a few things for the sake of time and to bring out some elements of Roger’s character on-screen rather than keeping them in his head.

Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 54.
