Jamie takes Brianna to River Run in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 52

It’s almost time for Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian to head out to find Jamie. Before that can happen, Brianna needs to get to River Run. That’s what happens in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 52.

It’s a relatively short chapter but sets the scene for the tension to come. Brianna said some words that she now regrets. At the same time, Jamie said some words that really stung. We get this sense of how the two of them are so very much alike, and that’s not always a good thing.

We’re also reminded that Jamie is a man of his time. He often seems like a man ahead of it, but there are going to be personality traits that come from the time period.

Not all of this chapter was used for the show. We all know how the fight worked out and, for the most part, the story is told in chronological order in the show unlike in the book. That negates some of the need for this chapter.

It is an important chapter, though. It’s huge for Brianna’s development in the end.

Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 52.
