Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Young Ian proposing to Brianna. It turns out that it was Jamie’s idea, which immediately makes Brianna angry.

She doesn’t want to marry anyone. She wants Roger and that’s it. If she doesn’t get Roger, then she will have the baby without marrying anyone.

That’s something that concerns Jamie, who looked at plenty of other eligible men before Ian. Jamie doesn’t want Brianna to be shamed and be the talk of the town. This is a time when women didn’t get to have babies out of wedlock without being shamed and ostracized for it.

Of course, Jamie wants the best thing for his daughter. At the same time, Brianna isn’t from this time. Just because she’s now in the past doesn’t mean her whole personality and way of thinking are going to change.

Bree says the one thing she knows will hurt Jamie: that Frank would never have forced her to marry. Yes, it hurts, but it could also be relatively true. We don’t know enough about Frank with Brianna to even know if it is true, but Bree believes it. Plus, haven’t we all said things to people in anger?

After the two cool down, Jamie and Brianna apologize to each other. This is the point that Jamie suggests that Brianna describes Roger. Maybe they just don’t know the guy’s name. Claire then suggests that Brianna draws Roger.

That’s when the truth comes out. Jamie and Ian realize that they’ve seen the man before. That is the man they thought was Brianna’s rapist.

Bree fears the worst when the news comes out. Ian says that he was going to kill Roger, but Jamie gave Roger a chance to speak. Roger explained that Brianna wanted him to take her virginity and Jamie couldn’t tell if Roger was lying or not. So, he decided to sell Roger to the Iroquois.

This is when Jamie accuses Brianna of sleeping with Roger and then regretting it. He claims that Brianna was never raped. Claire can do the only thing she can think of. She pulls out the ring and shows it to Jamie.

It’s clear from this that Stephen Bonnet was the one to rape Brianna. It’s hard for Jamie to take.
