Young Ian proposes to Brianna as the truth comes out in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 50

The truth is out in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 50. It was only a matter of time for everything to come out, but it didn’t happen in the same way as the series.

This is one of those chapters that starts of relatively light. There is a seriousness to it, but the idea of Young Ian proposing to Brianna is pretty funny. It’s not to say that Ian wouldn’t make a great husband to Bree, but the two just don’t quite work.

It’s later that the full seriousness comes within the chapter. That’s the moment that the full truth comes out, as Jamie realizes that he has beaten and sold the wrong man.

The chapter was partly used for the series. Ian’s proposal was moved to a rushed decision (and his decision) as he, Jamie, and Claire set off to find Roger. I actually liked that it was his decision and his way to right a wrong.

Of course, the way the truth comes out is different. It’s one of the most debated topics on the show. I won’t get into the debate. Instead, I’ll look objectively at why I think the show opted to change the big reveal.
