Outlander Book Club: Drums of Autumn Chapter 49 breakdown
Claire prepares in case Brianna has a difficult request in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 49
For some, Outlander Book 4, Chapter 49 is certainly a difficult read. It covers a topic that is hotly debated.
For the record, I’m not debating the topic. This is not the place for whether abortion is wrong or right. When it comes to a child being the product of rape, it’s going to be something that a woman considers. At least, maybe just in passing. The biggest question is whether she can have a baby that comes from a rapist.
That is something Claire has on her mind during the chapter. She is ready in case Brianna asks her to abort the baby. However, it’s clear which side Jamie is on the argument.
We get to see how both Jamie and Claire can disagree on a subject, but it doesn’t mean they stop loving each other. They hear each other’s sides, even if it is a heated debate. In the end, it’s always going to be up to Brianna.
The chapter wasn’t fully used on the show. Only one part of it was, and it was a part that did need to be added. After all, without it, there would have been questions from the audience.
It’s shorter than the previous chapter, coming in at around 28 minutes on Audible. It’s still an important one.
Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 49.
