Brianna tells Jamie the truth about what happened to her in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 47

The chapter starts with the Fraser family being open and honest about things. That is except for what Jamie had done in the previous chapter. Outlander Book 4, Chapter 47 ends with Jamie and Claire having a heart to heart.

It’s a heavy chapter. There is a lot of emotion to work through from start to finish. It all starts with fear and ends with anger and worry.

We get it all from Claire’s point of view, which does limit the chapter somewhat. I would love to have some of this from Jamie’s point of view or even Brianna’s point of view. However, there are elements of the chapter that would only work from Claire’s viewpoint.

This wasn’t used in the show. Instead, the whole thing ended up being a big argument, which certainly has fans divided. Why would the show change so much? Why would it skip over this and then focus on the drama part? It’s a TV show thing, and I will get to that in the adaptation section.

There is a lot of foreshadowing in the chapter, though. You can see where problems will arise based on the lie Jamie tells Claire, the secret Claire is holding back for Brianna, and the thoughts about what Roger will choose to do.

Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 47.
