Outlander Season 5 has been nominated for five Saturn Awards. It’s time to look at the nominations for the Saturn Awards 2021 and assess the chances of winning.

We know that Outlander deserves all the awards, but it takes a lot for award bodies to even consider that we’re right. The Saturn Awards are on our side more and more, with the show regularly nominated. In fact, during the previous nominations, Sam Heughan won Best Actor.

The 45th awards even had Game of Thrones to contend with. This was a show that was constantly winning awards, so it wasn’t surprising to see it take home the wins for its last season.

However, it’s out of the running for the 46th awards. There is still some stiff competition, though.

What are the chances of winning?

When it comes to Best Fantasy Television series, there is some competition but the show stands a chance. In my opinion, Outlander Season 5 was one of the strongest, especially for individual character development. Of course, it is going to depend on the episode put forward compared to the episodes for all other shows.

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe stand good chances in their categories. I think had Jurnee Smollett been nominated for Lovecraft Country, it would have been a bit of a different conversation for Balfe. She was outstanding in her role in the horror series. However, Balfe had some excellent moments during the final episode of Outlander Season 5.

Richard Rankin also stands a good chance if it’s “Famous Last Words” that was the episode put forward for him. He gave us that overwhelming look at PTSD and trying to fight against the memories.

It’s the Best Supporting Actress on a Television Series where I worry the most. Tessa Thompson and Cynthia Erivo were outstanding on Westworld and The Outsider respectively. I just don’t feel like there’s enough from Skelton on Outlander Season 5 because of the development for her character. When it comes to writing for Brianna, I feel like it’s the weakest of the lot.
