Outlander Book Club: Drums of Autumn Chapter 44 breakdown
Lizzie shares what she thinks she knows in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 44
We get to the chapter that I really didn’t look forward to. It’s the chapter of Outlander Book 4 that starts some of the biggest arguments—and yes, they’re arguments and not discussions—among the fans.
Everyone has an opinion. Everyone is free to air that opinion. However, it never happens respectfully. Name-calling starts, and so, it ends up being a discussion that I stay away from a lot.
I’ve said my piece on this topic a lot. I needed to reread this chapter of Drums of Autumn to remember exactly what Lizzie did, and I remain understanding of her thought process. She simply said what she saw, believing that to be the truth. More on that in the chapter.
Of course, this chapter was used in the show. There was absolutely no way to get away from using this chapter. It has a huge knock-on effect in the story. It literally affects the rest of the story for Roger, Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian.
The 25-minute or so chapter also brought us a bit of foreshadowing when it comes to Young Ian’s future. Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 44.
