Brianna saves baby Germaine from choking in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 43

During Outlander Book 4, Chapter 43, there’s a lot of focus on the day-to-day life. Brianna is holding out hope that Roger will return soon, but at the same time, she’s worried that something has happened.

The end of the chapter moves on. After Brianna saves Germaine from choking, Jamie takes time to find out who the button he choked on belongs to. There’s a potentially dangerous situation arising in the storyline.

This isn’t a chapter that we got in the show. Part of it was because Fergus and Marsali tried to make life work in Wilmington for a while. It was only at the end of the season that they realized that wasn’t possible and we got a chance to see Brianna, Marsali, and Fergus interact a little.

However, the whole button storyline was missed. That’s not surprising considering there were other ways to deal with the situation that the button led to. Books have the chance to sow seeds in places, but that’s not the case for the TV show.

It is an average length chapter coming in at around 35 minutes. However, it’s packed with foreshadowing.
