Outlander Season 5, Episode 4 brought us some needed lightness to the story
Outlander Season 5, Episode 4 saw Jamie and Claire get to Brownsville, where it was time for a small party. It was much-needed lightness for the story.
After an episode that felt more like a Stephen King movie, we needed something a little lighter. Of course, Outlander needs drama. It is a drama series after all. But that doesn’t mean there can’t be some humor and lightness thrown in there.
Outlander Season 5, Episode 4 brought us some of that. It was more like the calm before the storm, but it was still something. We had a chance to see Claire and Jamie reconnect and talk about their future together, and there was the chance to see them just have a little bit of fun. It reminded me a lot of the Season 5 premiere with Brianna and Roger’s wedding.
A chance to see Claire and Jamie happy on Outlander Season 5, Episode 4
There aren’t many cases where we get to see Claire and Jamie relaxed and happy. Because of the way TV is done, every episode needs to have some sort of drama, and sometimes that involves putting Claire and Jamie in a rocky position in terms of their marriage. Sometimes, it just means putting the two of them in some sort of danger.
But we need to see them happy. As a couple, they’d have plenty of those moments, and we need to be reminded of that. Their relationship isn’t one that involves constant fighting, whether with each other or for each other.
That’s what the moments at Brownsville offer. We get the intimacy between them as they talk in the darkness and we get to see them just have some fun.
It’s a shame there isn’t more time in the series to see more of this. That’s not a fault with the show but a fault with TV shows overall. There is just never enough time and these lighthearted moments tend to be cut first.
Just remember that it’s a calm before a storm. There’s drama still to come.
