Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

The foreshadowing here is simply the way Roger will feel about Bonnet the next time he runs into the man. Had it not been for this, Roger probably wouldn’t have thought much about Bonnet. He’s just a captain of a ship, and I don’t think Roger would have held throwing a smallpox-riddled baby overboard considering the lack of medical possibilities of the time.

However, Roger will have gained some ill-will towards the man. Roger’s fate was put in the hands of luck. What sort of man does that?

Other than that, I don’t see too much foreshadowing in the chapter. It’s just about connecting elements from previous chapters together to get to this point and end Roger’s journey across the seas.

Adapting the Drums of Autumn chapter

Of course, the chapter had to be adapted for Outlander Season 4. There was no way around it as it’s a huge moment for Roger to gain a hatred toward Bonnet.

The placement of the coin flip is slightly different. Instead of on the deck, Bonnet catches Roger, Morag, and the baby below decks in hiding. Bonnet has followed Roger to see what he’s doing with his rations.

Everything happens in front of Morag. She sees that Roger’s own life is put on the line for what he’s agreed to do for her. He wouldn’t have said anything to her about it.
