Brianna reaches Lallybroch and meets the Murrays in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 34

We get a chapter that many book fans hoped would be in the TV series. Brianna makes it to Lallybroch, where there’s plenty of drama in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 34.

It is a great chapter for the book. Brianna doesn’t just meet Jenny and Ian (and her cousins), but she also very quickly meets the woman who almost got her mother killed. Of course, Laoghaire hasn’t changed one bit, and it’s clear Laoghaire never will.

However, the focus doesn’t remain on her. It’s all about Brianna meeting the family she didn’t know anything about until just a few years earlier. It’s all about the family Brianna never even expected to ever meet. And that is something that makes this chapter so important.

It couldn’t be used for the TV show, though. Laura Donnelly wasn’t available and having Bree at Lallybroch for too long without Jenny there wouldn’t have made sense. So, the show changed a few things, and after reading the chapter again, there are other reasons I think the change worked well, even if Laoghaire isn’t a well-liked character.

This is one of the longer chapters of Drums of Autumn, coming in at around an hour and 30 minutes. It’s worth it for the detail that we get in the meeting. If you get behind, don’t worry; you’ve got the weekend to catch up.

Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 34.
