Outlander Book Club: Drums of Autumn Chapter 30 breakdown
We start Part Eight of Outlander Book 4 with Roger receiving a box from Brianna
We’re back in the 20th century in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 30. While we’re with Roger, this is more about what Brianna has done.
Roger knows that Brianna isn’t coming to visit him in the summer. She’s written a letter that tells him why, but we later find out that she’s lied. She’s lied to a lot of people in her life. Brianna is heading on a journey that is dangerous, and Roger doesn’t find out until it’s too late.
One thing that’s important about this chapter is that it tells us who knows about time travel. That circle of trust is one person bigger than we’ve been led to believe up to this point, and it’s something that the TV show left us.
I understand why the TV show went the route it did, and it’s something that I’ll go into in the adaptation breakdown. While I missed Joe Abernathy, I’ll admit that I understood why he wasn’t included in Outlander Season 4. It’s all just part of the problem of TV shows, actors, and managing schedules. Production companies are used to it, and they work around the problems.
It is a short chapter, though. It’s not as short as some of the chapters coming up, but it is on the shorter side for Drums of Autumn coming in at around 20 minutes. It’s packed with a storyline for things to come next. This is essential in the plot development.
Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 30.
