Claire meets Willie in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 25

We get a chapter that starts with a snake in the privy and ends up with a child falling into the privy. There is a lot of laughter and also hints of drama in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 25.

The chapter is all about Willie and Lord John Grey getting to Fraser’s Ridge. Naturally, Claire isn’t happy about it, but what can she do? It’s not like John could have telephoned ahead! He could have sent mail, but he couldn’t guarantee that it would have received them so far out into the backcountry.

Instead, John had to surprise them, bringing Willie along with him. And I do believe his heart was mostly in the right place in this chapter, but that didn’t make it any easy for Claire or even Jamie.

Most of this chapter is about plot development, but there is a little bit of foreshadowing mixed in. That’s especially when it comes to the snake in the privy. Even without the foreshadowing and plot development, it is an entertaining chapter when it comes to needing a laugh.

It comes in at around an hour on Audible, and it is certainly packed with information and description. Some of that is catching up on things from previous books for those who have picked up the fourth book as the first one by mistake.

Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 25.
