Outlander Book Club: Drums of Autumn Chapter 22 breakdown
Roger learns a horrifying truth about events in the past in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 22
Chapter 22 is one of the shortest chapters of the Outlander Book 4. Despite that, it’s also one of the most important.
This chapter certainly brings up a debate, something that I don’t think any of us can answer honestly unless we’ve been through something like it. However, we all think we know what we’ll do.
It’s this chapter that sets up the next part of Roger and Brianna’s story. Without it, we wouldn’t have their events happening in the past. They’d likely remain in the present day, which could have led to them never getting married or having children. The item that Roger finds is the catalyst for the next part of their story.
So, while there’s no traditional foreshadowing, there is a lot of plot development. There is a tiny bit of foreshadowing though, and I’ll get to that in that section of this post.
As for the adaptation, it was used for the series. The way Roger finds out about the newspaper article is different, so is the date. Why would the series do this? I’ll get to my thoughts on that (and why I didn’t mind the changes from a TV perspective) in the adaptation section.
As it is a short chapter, don’t expect this post to be overly long. However, again, it’s still an important chapter of Drums of Autumn to read.
Let’s dive straight into Drums of Autumn Chapter 22.
