Outlander fans will soon have a new show to watch to get through Droughtlander. When is The Nevers, starring Laura Donnelly, coming out?

There has been a showrunner change for the show. Joss Whedon stepped down in 2020, but Philippa Goslett has taken over. Other than that, no changes have happened. It’s still going to be something for Outlander fans to see what Laura Donnelly is up to now.

The series is about a group of women in the Victorian period who have unusual abilities. Naturally, they need to band together in a time period when women were just property to husbands and fathers.

Now we have a bit of information about when The Nevers will premiere and what to expect. It’s time to dive into what we know to get ready.

The Nevers premiere date

So far, we don’t have an exact premiere date, but we do know the month. The Nevers will premiere in April 2021.

There will be six episodes. HBO releases content weekly just like STARZ, so expect a weekly release for this series.

We’ll be sure to update as soon as there is an exact premiere date.

The Nevers cast

Laura Donnelly leads the spectacular cast. She’ll play Amalia True, who is on the hunt for other women just like her to protect them.

The ensemble cast also includes:

  • Olivia Williams
  • James Norton
  • Tom Riley
  • Rochelle Neil
  • Eleanor Tomlinson
  • Amy Manson
  • Pip Torrens
  • Denis O’Hare#
  • Zackary Momoh
  • Elizabeth Berrington
  • Kiran Sawar
  • Anna Devlin
  • Viola Prettejohn
  • Ella Smith
  • Nick Frost
  • Ben Chaplin

Yes, this is a strong cast. Hopefully, the writing is able to allow the cast members to do their characters justice. Based on the teaser for the season, I expect so.

The Nevers trailer

There isn’t a full trailer for The Nevers out just yet. However, HBO has released a teaser trailer. It gives us a snapshot of what to expect from the series, including the confidence Donnelly oozes as Amalia True.

Take a look at the teaser trailer, and we’ll be sure to bring the full trailer when it’s out:

HBO has now released the official trailer for The Nevers. You might not want to play a drinking game for every time someone says “touched” while watching it.

The Nevers synopsis

The series follows a group of women who have all been “Touched.” They have abnormal abilities, whether it’s super strength, the ability to freeze things, or lure people in with the sound of their voices. Some of the abilities are charming, but others are dangerous.

And of course, there are people who are “Purists,” who don’t want the “Touched” to be around. There are others who are just simply afraid.

Think of it as a little like X-Men but set in the Victorian period without Professor X to help. Donnelly’s Amalia is more like Professor X.

Here’s the synopsis from HBO for the series:

"In the last years of Victoria’s reign, London is beset by the “Touched”: people—mostly women—who suddenly manifest abnormal abilities—some charming, some very disturbing. Among them are Amalia True (Laura Donnelly), a mysterious, quick-fisted widow, and Penance Adair (Ann Skelly), a brilliant young inventor. They are the champions of this new underclass, making a home for the Touched, while fighting the forces of… well, pretty much all the forces – to make room for those whom history as we know it has no place."
