A bear attacks the Frasers in the woods in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 15

Young Ian and John Quincy Myers leave with Pollyanne, so the Frasers are on their own in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 15. Of course, there has to be a big attack when they’re alone.

This is the chapter that involves the bear attack, and in Drums of Autumn, it’s a very real bear that attacks. Those who have seen the show will know just how this storyline was adapted. It was kept in but had a very different take on the matter. And I’ll get into why I prefer the show’s version of the book’s version in the adaptation section.

There is more than just the bear attack, though. This chapter focuses on Claire and Jamie running into three members of the Tuscarora tribe, and it is certainly an important moment. After all, this is the first time we’ve seen the characters run into any of the Native American population.

It is a chapter on the average side, running at around 45 minutes in length. You don’t feel like you’re reading for that long, though. The next chapter is on the shorter side, and it will be the last chapter of Part Four. You’ve got that to look forward to on Monday.

Let’s dive right into the Drums of Autumn chapter.
