We move onto the longest chapter of Outlander Book 4, Chapter 13

Drums of Autumn Chapter 13 picks up off the back of the previous one. It’s time to find out why Jamie needed the distraction in the previous chapter of Outlander Book 4.

Jamie needs to tell Claire why he needed the distraction at dinner, a distraction that wasn’t needed in the end thanks to John Quincy Myers anyway. It is a serious matter to discuss, and we get a sense of the type of mind Jocasta has. If you thought throwing Jamie in the deep end at the mill in the first place was bad, wait until you find out what she was planning on doing at dinner.

And while there is an important conversation, there is also more drama that the Frasers find themselves in the middle of. A lot of this chapter wasn’t used for the TV series, and I do kind of understand why. I’ll get to that in the adaptation breakdown.

It is the longest chapter of Drums of Autumn. I can understand if you got behind and you’re reading this to catch up at the weekend. It comes in at almost two hours. After this, the chapters are mostly between 30 and 50 minutes with the odd exception.

Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 13.
