Jamie gets an offer for a land grant in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 7

Claire and Jamie “enjoy” dinner to sell their ruby in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 7. It leads to a very interesting proposal for Jamie.

This is a chapter that helps to set up storylines for later in the book. It’s not really foreshadowing but plot development, especially as Jamie thinks about why Governor Tryon would even consider offering Jamie the land.

However, there is a little foreshadowing in the chapter. Claire thinks about things that become problems at later points in the story.

Drums of Autumn Chapter 7 is one of those that was used within the show. There was no way around using this chapter, although things were condensed a little. Claire and Jamie’s conversation after Jamie was offered the land grant was slightly different because of what Claire knows is coming.

And so we get into a chapter that’s about normal length for Drums of Autumn. It’s about 50 minutes long. Just a warning that Chapter 10 is about an hour and a half long, so it’s worth planning some reading time in soon. Don’t worry if you get behind. We’ll update the post with all the chapters in one place so you can easily look back.

Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 7.
