Claire and Jamie meet John Quincy Myers in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 6

We start Part Three of Outlander Book 4 back in the 18th century. Claire and Jamie have decided what they’re going to do next, but they need a little help to get there.

Drums of Autumn Chapter 6 is when Claire and Jamie meet John Quincy Myers. He certainly isn’t embarrassed about things in life, very quickly trying to show his hernia as soon as he learns that Claire is a healer. He wants his fixed, and he doesn’t care who sees anything.

It certainly gives us a good look at JQM’s personality. Of course, this isn’t something that was included in the TV series. Did the show work with JQM’s introduction. I think so, and I’ll get to that in the adaptation breakdown.

The chapter also sees Claire get a new dress. She and Jamie need to go to a dinner, where they stand a chance of selling off one of their gemstones to liquidate their cash.

The chapter is the shortest of Drums of Autumn Part Three, coming in at around 30 minutes on Audible. All the rest are closer to an hour in length. Get ready for some longer chapters in Part Four.
