As we get through Droughtlander, many Outlander fans start looking for something else to watch. Netflix has an excellent offering, and The Queen’s Gambit is just one of the great shows to binge-watch.
The Queen’s Gambit has now made it to the list of 25 best Netflix shows for Outlander fans. You can see the full list, including where the series is right now. There’s sure to be something to keep you entertained while you wait for a new season of your favorite show.
But why does this show make it to the list? There are a few reasons.
The Queen’s Gambit is all about Jamie’s game
If there’s one thing we know Jamie is good at, it’s chess. He has used it as a way to get to know many important people, including the finance minister in France and Lord John Grey while at Ardsmuir Prison.
The Queen’s Gambit is all about the game. It focuses on Beth, an orphan and a chess prodigy. She wants to prove to the world that she is worthy of the title of Grand Master, a title usually only given to men. Beth isn’t perfect, though. She struggles with addiction, both of the game and of drugs. It’s something that makes her human and relatable, even if you don’t play chess.
The show has gained a lot of praise from those in the chess world for being accurate and progressive. We’re sure Jamie would appreciate it, and so would Claire and Brianna considering the focus on a female in a man’s world.
It’s also a period drama. The show is set during the Cold War, which Claire, Brianna, and Roger would have witnessed a little of during their time in the 1950s and 1960s.
There are some beautiful costumes and sets, which are sure to catch the attention of Outlander fans.
We also can’t forget that it’s based on a book. If you love to see book to screen transformation, this show is a must.
The downside is The Queen’s Gambit is a limited series. However, it’s one you’ll find yourself watching over and over again.
