Here are Jamie’s standout moments from the Outlander Season 3 finale

The Outlander Season 3 finale started with Claire and Jamie separated once more, but it ended with them back together. It’s time to look back at the episode on the anniversary of it first airing.

Jamie certainly had a lot to do during the episode, whether it was to find Young Ian or protect the crew of the Artemis. Here’s a look at his five standout moments from the Outlander Season 3 finale.

Waiting for Lord John Grey to finish

The episode started with Jamie being taken to the Porpoise, where he would head back to Scotland to face (an unfair) trial. However, Fergus managed to get word to Lord John Grey that there was a problem.

I love that Jamie didn’t say a word while Lord John Grey and Captain Leonard argued about whether Jamie would be taken to Scotland or not. He didn’t really make many facial expressions either. He kept his chess face, and it was only once it was all over, he let his relief show.

Getting straight on the search for Young Ian

As soon as he was free, Jamie headed to Geillis’s plantation. That was where Young Ian was likely to be, and he knew that would be where Claire would go.

He was too late to get Young Ian. However, he did run into Claire. Now it was time to get back on with saving his nephew.

Not asking Mr. Willoughby to stay

While looking for where Geillis would take Young Ian, Jamie ran into Mr. Willoughby, who makes it clear that he doesn’t want to travel with Jamie anymore. He wants to stay with Margaret Campbell.

Jamie is happy Yi Tien Cho has found love. All he wants is for Yi Tien Cho to be safe and happy, so he doesn’t argue with the decision. It’s a respectful and kind thing to do when so many others could have likely said “after you help with this.”

Fighting off Hercules to allow Claire to do her thing

In the cave, Claire needs to get to Young Ian and Geillis. There’s a rather large man in the way with a pistol to Jamie’s head.

Not to worry. Jamie manages to find the perfect time to fight Hercules off, allowing Claire to do her thing. Much of this scene reminds me of the ending to Outlander Season 1 when Jamie has to fight off the large brute that is with Black Jack Randall.

Claire’s story is mirrored in a couple of parts during this episode here. I love that Jamie’s story was, too.

Saving Claire’s life

When Claire went overboard, many would have likely left her. After all, there was a crew member who went overboard in the storm and was left to die. Yet, Jamie would never do that to Claire.

He swam down and saved her. I’ll admit I don’t quite believe that Claire would have survived the journey to Georgia if she wasn’t breathing after being saved initially, but I’ll just roll my eyes at yet another element of fiction that is unbelievable.

There was the great line of Jamie telling Claire he’d kill her if she died on him, showing his desperation and fear at the time.
