Just the Outlander chapter

We pick up on the beach, not long after Voyager Chapter 50. The crew of the Artemis is putting the boat back together, and Claire is sure that Jamie is in grave danger. The last anyone saw of him, he’d made his way to the Porpoise, and only Claire knew what was in store for him there.

As the crew makes repairs to the ship, French soldiers turn up. Claire and Marsali rush to the bushes out of sight, knowing that they could be taken and used by the soldiers. The crew stands their ground ready to protect their ship. Because it’s shipwrecked, the French soldiers could take the ship for parts.

However, it soon turns out that the captain of the French soldiers is none other than Jamie Fraser. How did he end up there? We don’t get to find out in this chapter. I’m sure it’s explained at a later point, but I honestly can’t remember the full story yet.

Jamie has a way to keep his people safe but make the French soldiers he’s working with them. He tells the French soldiers that they’ll help to get the Artemis back on water and then steal the ship. Jamie then tells Fergus the same thing, so the Artemis’s crew is ready.

As the sailors get to work, Jamie comes across Claire and Marsali and tells them to remain hidden for now. It’s not until the ship is back on water and one of the French soldiers has been thrown overboard that it’s safe for Claire and Marsali to come out.

Jamie is now the captain of the Artemis. As captain, he says how much of the ratios the crew gets and when they sail. He wants to eat before they sail, and that’s when Marsali comes into the cabin. She wants to marry Fergus and there’s a priest on the island who can marry them.

Sure enough, Father Fogden is willing to marry the two, although he does it in his crazy manner. He doesn’t even realize Fergus is the groom at first because he’s missing a hand.

When Fergus doesn’t have a name, there’s a little bit of tension. However, Jamie gives Fergus his name, making Fergus officially a Fraser. And with that, the two can marry.

The chapter finishes with Claire thinking about how much she’s wanted Fergus for so long. She told her mom, Jamie, Fergus, and so many others, and now Marsali gets the man she wants. Claire didn’t want Jamie at first, but she’s chosen him three times since their wedding night. It all counts.
