Jamie sneaks onboard the Porpoise in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 51

For the first time since Claire’s return to the past, we get a chapter from Jamie’s point of view. It’s time to breakdown Outlander Book 3, Chapter 51.

For those who have only watched the show, reading this chapter would have likely come as a surprise. After all, Jamie didn’t sneak onboard the Porpoise during the series. He wanted to rescue Claire, but in the end, he was locked up and had to agree to waiting until Jamaica.

Why the change? I’ll share my thoughts when it comes to the adaptation breakdown. I’ll admit that I actually prefer the TV show storyline to the book storyline, but not everyone does. This is one of the things I enjoy about having the two mediums. There’s something for everyone.

The chapter itself is important, though. We’d just seen Claire reunite with Fergus only to find out that Jamie wasn’t with them. Instead, Jamie had made it to the Porpoise, and that meant potentially a lot of trouble.

The 23-minute chapter does give us a little hope at the end. There’s a chance for Claire and Jamie to be reunited very soon.
