Claire turns to Annekja Johansen for help in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 49
Claire has to take a leap of faith at the end of Outlander Book 3, Chapter 49. It’s time to break down the chapter.
This is one of those chapters that was essential to the story, but there were some changes made. It offered us a little hope that Claire would get back to Jamie, but there were still plenty of questions about her actions. She had to put her faith in someone she barely knew.
That someone was Annekja Johansen, who had previously been mentioned as Claire’s left hand. It was clear that it would set up this relationship of trust. Annekja didn’t need to be told why Claire needed to get off the ship. She just worked with Claire to find a way, even if it meant jumping into the waters below.
Of course, the chapter was used for the story. I’ll get into the reasons for the adaptation it received in that section, but it was pretty much due to the way TV show episodes are set up.
This is another short chapter, though. It doesn’t even reach 20 minutes on Audible, but it is one of the most important chapters when it comes to pushing the story forward.
Let’s get into the breakdown of Voyager Chapter 49.
