Sam Heughan’s Sassenach whisky gets a Black Friday release

If you’ve wanted to try Sam Heughan’s Sassenach Whisky, now is your chance

Whisky plays an important part in Outlander, both in the books and the show.  Jamie Fraser even builds his own whisky still on Fraser’s Ridge.  If you didn’t know that Sam Heughan likes whisky, you really haven’t been paying attention, but did you know he has his own label?  What is it called?  The Sassenach.

The Sassenach is a blended Scotch whisky rather than a single malt like Scotland is more famous for.  Sam has said that he was inspired by the taste of some Asian whiskeys when perfecting his own dram.  The Sassenach is extremely smooth on the palate and has won 2x Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition as well as Gold in the International Spirits Challenge.

The Sassenach “Spirit of Home” limited edition was first released in the U.S. in early 2020.  It has just been released again for preorder at ReserveBar on Nov. 27, and will be released in the UK on Nov. 30.

The Sassenach is available in three packages for shipping to 37 states and the District of Columbia

There are currently three options available for ordering Sam’s whisky.  You can order the whisky by itself for $99.00.  You can get the whisky in a special edition box for $249.00.  Finally, you can get the whisky, the special edition box, and two official Sassenach-branded whisky glasses for $275.00.  There was a package with the two glasses without the special edition box available for $125, but it sold out fast!

According to the ReserveBar site, “This product is available in: AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, ID, IL, IA, IN, LA, KY, MD, MA, ME, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NY, NC, ND, NM, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TX, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY.”  It is set to ship in late December so you might not get it by Christmas, if that was your hope.

I managed to secure a bottle of The Sassenach during the last release.  If you like Scotch whisky, I can definitely recommend it as a tasty dram.  The bottle is also a beautiful souvenir.  Caitriona Balfe has also jumped into the spirits game with her own Forget Me Not gin.
