For All Mankind Season 2 gets February release date

Season 2 of Ron D. Moore’s For All Mankind will be out in February 2021

Ronald D. Moore is a big name when it comes to television.  From Star Trek: The Next Generation to Battlestar Galactica he’s one of the best writers and producers in sci-fi.  He’s even served as showrunner on a little show called Outlander.  Moore’s newest project, For All Mankind, is coming to Apple TV+ for a second season in February.

There will be 10 episodes in Season 2 of the space drama.  The first one drops on Feb. 19, and they’ll come out one per week after that.

For All Mankind is an alternate history of the American/Soviet Space Race.  The premise of the show is what would have happened if the Soviets made it to the moon first.  The first season, which aired November 2019, followed NASA’s next steps.

For All Mankind jumps forward 10 years into its second season

According to TVLine, season 2 of For All Mankind starts in 1983, during the Cold War.  Under President Ronald Reagan, the previous goals of science are being neglected in the race to control resources on the moon.

"The Department of Defense has moved into Mission Control, and the militarization of NASA becomes central to several characters’ stories: Some fight it, some use it as an opportunity to advance their own interests and some find themselves at the height of a conflict that may lead to nuclear war."

In addition to new conflicts, the second season brings new faces to the cast.  Cynthy Wu is Kelly Baldwin; Coral Peña is engineer Aleida Rosales, and Casey W. Johnson plays Danny Stevens.

For All Mankind is truly a passion project for Ron D. Moore.  He’s been into space since the Apollo 11 mission.  I’d be truly interested to see the sci-fi master’s take on the Space Race.  The only obstacle is having to pick up another streaming service since the show is only available on Apple TV+, but you can always wait until all the episodes are out, binge them quickly, and drop it.
