When will The Crown Season 4 DVD release date be?
You can watch The Crown Season 4 on Netflix to get your Tobias Menzies fix. But what if you don’t want to keep your Netflix subscription all the time? Will you be able to get The Crown Season 4 on DVD and Blu-ray?
We have some excellent news. While many Netflix Originals aren’t released on DVD and Blu-ray, the Royal Family drama series will be. The previous three seasons have come to DVD and Blu-ray, so it would seem odd for Left Bank Productions not to release the fourth season on physical disc.
Whether there will be any bonus features is another thing. Not all releases get bonus features so Netflix doesn’t lose out by having the discs out there. However, previous seasons have included the odd featurette. The main benefit is not having to rely on your internet connection to stream on Netflix, and we all know how iffy some companies have been since more people have started working from home!
There isn’t a set DVD release date just yet. Judging by previous seasons, expect The Crown Season 4 to come to DVD around November 2021.
Why The Crown Season 4 is perfect for Outlander fans
If you’ve watched the first three seasons, watching The Crown Season 4 is a no-brainer. The show continues the story of the Royal Family, focused on how everyone is an outsider to Queen Elizabeth’s show. That’s the way it will always be.
Tobias Menzies is in the fourth season, just like the third. He continues his role as Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and there are some major moments for him throughout the fourth season. However, my favorite episode of his will always be the one set around the Apollo 11 mission as Philip ponders what is next for him and what he’s achieved.
One of the episodes sees Philip head out on a hunt with Lady Diana Spencer, getting to know her and what she does before he gives his approval to Prince Charles. At the end of the season, he’s the one that points out everyone is an outsider. It’s a big moment showing how even after decades of marriage to Queen Elizabeth, he is still an outsider in this family and in Elizabeth’s world.
It’s not just about Menzies, either. The Crown Season 4 is very much focused on powerful women. Not only do we have the Queen, but we meet Diana Spencer and Margaret Thatcher. We see the roles they played, the things they did, and the actions they all felt they had to take.
Thatcher is an interesting one for me. We see her as a wife and mother but also as a prime minister.
