Jamie’s standout moments on Outlander Season 3, Episode 10

Outlander Season 3, Episode 10 is one of those hotly debated episodes. Ask book fans, and everything Jamie did was out of character. As a person watching the show first, his actions made a lot of sense.

It’s time to break down the episode on the third anniversary of it. Here are my five favorite Jamie moments from Outlander Season 3, Episode 10.

His initial attempt to take over the ship

The start of the episode sees Jamie realize that the Porpoise is pulling away with Claire still on board. He needs Claire back to him, and his immediate reaction is to take control of the ship.

He isn’t the captain, but that doesn’t initially cross his mind. In fact, some of the crew follow his order at first until the real captain steps in.

His talk of mutiny to get Claire back

This is a moment that not everyone likes. Jamie is willing to put others’ lives at risk for the sake of Claire. Some say it’s not in Jamie’s nature, but this is Claire. This is the woman he was so afraid of losing again. He’d only just got her back, and there was no way he was going to lose her without a fight.

That fight was going to be mutiny. He was willing to risk death (and the deaths of others) to get Claire back, just like Claire has been willing to do in the past to save Jamie.

Also, Jamie isn’t in his right mind at this point. Seasickness is getting to him, and he just wants it all to be over. None of us are in our right minds when we’re ill.

Eventually accepting Fergus wouldn’t budge

In the end, Fergus knocks some sense into Jamie. He won’t commit mutiny, not after what he heard the ship’s crew talking about. Fergus says as much to Jamie.

There’s nothing Jamie can do. He has to accept that mutiny isn’t going to happen. He also has to accept that Fergus loves Marsali 100%.

Looking through photos of Brianna

As he accepts that mutiny isn’t going to happen, Jamie looks through the photos that Claire left with him. They’re photos of Claire and Brianna, showing us that the two are always on his mind.

Jamie takes in so many details of all the pictures. I’m guessing he skipped over the one with the bikini, though!

Giving Marsali his blessing after all

At the very end of the episode, Marsali comes to visit Jamie. The captain needs Jamie out of the cell as they’re in treacherous waters, but he needs to know that he can trust Jamie not to do something stupid.

That’s where Marsali comes in. She’s the one who convinces the captain Jamie will behave. And Jamie has the chance to give Marsali and Fergus his blessing.
