12 Days of Caroling spoiler-free review: Why it’s most definitely worth the money
The 12 Days of Caroling with the Outlander actors is a must
While 2020 hasn’t been all that great, there is something to look forward to. It’s all about the 12 Days of Caroling, featuring Outlander actors.
Sadly, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe aren’t part of it, but there are so many other wonderful actors taking part. Richard Rankin, Steven Cree, Gary Lewis, and Annette Badland are among the list of wonderful actors sharing their memories.
I get that $200 is going to see expensive at first. This year has been rough and it can be hard to justify spending money at times. However, this is a one-off event. The live reading of A Christmas Carol is the biggest part of it, and it’s not going to be recorded. Really! You either get it or you miss out completely.
I’ve had a sneak peek of what’s in store thanks to the 12 Days of Caroling, and I’m bringing this spoiler-free review to share why this is more than worth getting.
Funny, sweet, and entertaining stories
You’ll get one video per day. And each actor will read (or sing) one line from the song The 12 Days of Christmas.
We know from the short clip on the 12 Days of Caroling website that Annette Badland is going to do Day 5, so you can hear her say “On the fifth day of Christmas…” you know the song. There’s one line for each of the actors since there are, well, 12 actors!
After they share the line from the song, they go into a Christmas story or memory. Some of them are funny and some of them are a little more heartfelt. One of the things I noticed was that they suit the personalities of the cast members.
Badland has a beautiful memory from her childhood that will definitely get you into the Christmas spirit. And we can’t overlook the candles she has surrounding her in the video. They each have something Christmasy in their videos that will get you excited as the days count down.
Romann Berrux and John Bell have some beautiful and funny memories from when they were young. No spoilers, but you’ll find yourself just imagining five-year-old Romann on Christmas Morning. John offers a few things to think about with his memory of what he wanted for Christmas one year. They’ll both take you back to your childhood memories of the magical time.
There will be times you laugh out loud. Memories aren’t always magical. They can be hilarious with things going wrong or just because something funny stands out. These videos are a chance for the personalities of the actors to come out, and that’s what is so wonderful about them. You get something personal, something meaningful, that you will not get anywhere else.
Anyone who has been to an Outlander convention knows what the energy is like. You’ll know what it’s like to hear stories that are on the more personal side, the stories that the actors would never tell to the press. That’s what you get with these videos.
Some are just a few minutes long. Some of the actors like to talk a lot normally, so they most definitely talk a lot in these videos.
Grant O'Rourke spills the beans
Grant is like a child on Christmas morning sharing the details of his role in A Christmas Carol!

The live recording in the 12 Days of Caroling
Something that I didn’t get a sneak peek of (because, well, it hasn’t happened yet) is the live reading of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
This is the one thing that I’m looking forward to the most. It’s something that is going to make the $200 a steal.
There is a script, but we know what the Outlander actors are like, right? Especially Gary Lewis! Throw in Grant O’Rourke, Steven Cree, and Stephen Walters, and there’s no doubt that the script will be thrown out. It’s A Christmas Carol like you’ve never seen it.
On top of that, you have the Christmas card. Treat yourself this Christmas. It’s worth it.
From Dec. 1 to Dec. 13 (the live reading), you’ll get one thing you know you can look forward to and cherish.
12 Days of Caroling tickets are available from the official website.
