Jamie’s standout moments from Outlander Season 3, Episode 9
Jamie heads out on a voyage to save his nephew with Claire. It’s time to look back at his best moments from Outlander Season 3, Episode 9.
This is one of those episodes where Jamie doesn’t get that much time. He’s in a cabin suffering from seasickness for a bit of it, but when he does show up, he’s ready to tackle whatever the problem is.
Here are my five favorite Jamie moments from Outlander Season 3, Episode 9.
Getting Claire to touch the horseshoe
The episode starts with the Frasers getting onboard the ship. The first thing he gets Claire to do is to touch the horseshoe. He knows that she doesn’t believe in the superstition, but that’s not what matters here. She has to touch it.
I love that Jamie has a respect for other people’s superstitions. Part of it is being raised in the time period, but another part is accepting that people aren’t as worldly as he is. It doesn’t harm them to touch the horseshoe so why not do it?
Trying to talk Fergus out of the relationship
Jamie isn’t happy that Fergus and Marsali are in a relationship. He’s even more unhappy that Fergus stowed Marsali onboard the ship without telling him.
He makes his displeasure clear. In their cabin, Jamie shares how Fergus and Marsali barely know each other. Of course, Fergus has an answer for everything, but Jamie doesn’t relent on his lack of permission for the relationship.
His embarrassment about the acupuncture
Jamie doesn’t get along with boats. Outlander Season 3, Episode 9 shows us how bad his seasickness can get, but Claire tries to find a way to help him. In the end, it’s Yi Tien Cho who helps with acupuncture.
We get this amusing moment where Jamie is clearly embarrassed to tell Claire that acupuncture is helping. He doesn’t want to hurt her feelings knowing they’re rocky right now. It continues the fear that we see during Outlander Season 3, Episode 7. He can’t lose Claire again.
Stopping Hayes from jumping
Jamie is also not willing to lose his friends and those who follow him. Hayes can’t remember if he touched the horseshoe, and he becomes the Jonah. Rather than letting the men throw him overboard, Hayes climbs up the mast.
Jamie isn’t about to let something happen. He climbs up with Hayes and manages to talk him down. There’s still the problem of the crew turning against Hayes, but it’s a start and shows Jamie’s connection to his men.
Reconnecting with Claire
There’s one person he needs to reconnect with. It’s all about Claire. When the rain falls again, Jamie and Claire can finally give themselves over to each other. They find a storage room and get it on.
However, it’s the moments afterward that I love. Jamie sees the grey hair and is so poetic about it. Nothing can change between them, and he is King of All Men.
