Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian return to Lallybroch in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 32

We head back to Lallybroch with Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 32. It’s clear there is going to be some anger, but there’s also a little hope that everyone can forgive.

Claire is anxious during the journey. She thinks back to how Jenny was like a sister to her. In fact, Jenny has been the only female friend that Claire has really had, and we know female friendships are important. The circumstances were against Claire to make female friends, but even she thinks about how it would have been nice to have a female friend.

While Diana Gabaldon doesn’t agree with fan fiction, there is a lot out there. Something I’ve found while doing research into it is that many people focus on Claire living at Lallybroch with the Frasers and the Murrays. They want more time between Claire and Jenny, seeing them as sisters. So, it’s clear that there is a wish among readers that Claire and Jenny had more time together.

It just wasn’t meant to be. Not with the story Herself wrote. However, this chapter does foreshadowing storylines to come.

The journey to Lallybroch wasn’t included in the series, but the time at Lallybroch was somewhat included. We’ll get into the changes and why I believe they were made in the adaptation section. Do I like all the changes, not necessarily, but I do understand them in terms of transforming a book to screen. It’s not an easy task at all.

The first chapter of Part Seven of Voyager is about normal for this book. It’s just shy of an hour in length, and packed with great story.

Let’s get into the breakdown of Outlander Book 3, Chapter 32.
