We end the week by meeting the Campbells in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 29

Outlander Book 3, Chapter 29 introduces the Campbells, introducing their story and making it clear they will eventually play a bigger role in the overall story. It’s time to break down the Voyager chapter.

The title of this 48-minute chapter is “Culloden’s Last Victim.” It makes sense as you get into the Campbell’s story, with Claire learning more about poor Margaret Campbell. This is a story that was missed out entirely from the show, and I have my suspicions about why. In fact, I think there was only one real reason the two characters were even brought into the TV series.

The chapter isn’t just about the Campbells, though. This chapter sets things up for Jenny’s less than warm welcome when Claire returns. Jamie knows that Ian Murray hasn’t bought the story of where Claire has been all this time.

We’re also wrapping up the Edinburgh storyline, although we wouldn’t know it fully at the time. Jamie makes it clear that he needs to get Young Ian back to Lallybroch, and Claire will need to go with him.

Let’s get into the breakdown of Voyager Chapter 29. Are you ready for the end of this week?
