The books don’t, but the TV show opted for October 1945, which admittedly does make a little more sense than May 1945 due to the war.

Anyway, this episode brings us the ghost of Jamie. Yes, it’s Jamie. Diana Gabaldon has already confirmed that, but we won’t get to know how or why he is there until the last book. We’re patiently waiting, but for now, let the speculation and theories continue!
