5 best Jamie moments from Outlander Season 3, Episode 7
Jamie’s standout moments from Outlander Season 3, Episode 7
Outlander Season 3, Episode 7 isn’t a favorite episode for many people. I tend to remember the bad from it more than the good after watching, and then during a rewatch, I remember what I liked about it. It’s just one of those odd episodes.
However, while it’s not the greatest episode of the third season, it does have some excellent Jamie moments. It’s time to break down the five best from “Creme de Menthe.”
Not wanting to help the exciseman
While I love that Claire wants to help the exciseman, I also love that Jamie is on the opposite side. He’s forgotten what Claire can be like, and I don’t think he knows about the oath to do no harm and treat people without prejudice yet. It’s something that Claire points out in the episode.
But for Jamie, he is thinking in his 18th-century way. Fergus even backs him up. Why is Claire trying to save a man who tried to kill her? It’s a question for the majority of the fandom, so it certainly stands out.
Quickly protecting Madam Jeanne’s brothel
When Madam Jeanne finds out what happened in the room, she’s immediately concerned for her girls and her business. That’s understandable. Not only could her reputation be pulled down, but she also has illegal liquor in her basement.
Jamie understands the concerns. He isn’t going to leave her to deal with it all. It’s his wife who has caused the problem (and his issue with Sir Percival) so he will honorable and deal with the entire situation.
Fearing Claire will leave again
After everything happens and Claire deals with the loss of her patient, she needs to see another patient. Jamie isn’t happy about that, but not just because of the entire situation has gotten to him. He’s scared.
He’s only just got Claire back. And in Outlander Season 3, Episode 7, he makes it clear that he’s scared she will leave and never come back. After all, they’ve not had the greatest start together!
Jamie’s anger at not raising Brianna
Claire is understandably angry at Jamie for not telling Ian that Young Ian is in town. A lot of Outlander fans are upset with Jamie’s lies. However, Claire hits Jamie where it hurts—not necessarily meaning to but she still hurts him.
Jamie is angry that he never got to raise Brianna. He’s angry that he missed out on 20 years with Claire raising their child together. It’s an understandable feeling that he’s not been able to share with anyone, and now he can.
Saving Young Ian and “Willie”
At the end of the episode, Jamie rushes into the burning printshop to save his nephew. There’s no way he will allow himself to be blamed for the death of Young Ian.
However, it’s not just about Young Ian. Jamie just has time to grab the portrait of Willie, showing just how important this young boy is to him. It’s something that comes up later, too, so I like that consistency was there.
