Claire thinks back to the night Frank died in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 19

Claire returns home to Boston in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 19, and it’s time for ghosts of the past.

This is the chapter where we find out how Frank died. We also learn a little more about the relationship between Claire and Frank. So far, the novel has glossed over the 20 years. Claire has thought back a couple of times, such as when she returned through the stones and one time when she considered giving up medical school, but this is the first time we really get a sense of what life was like for the two of them.

They didn’t really love each other anymore. Claire did once love him, but that’s not how she felt any more. The TV show changed this slightly, suggesting there was still a little love left for him but it just wasn’t the same as it used to be.

While not all the chapter was used, it was something that was included in the Outlander TV series. After all, it’s an essential chapter to the story, showing what happened to Frank and the plans he had for Brianna. Unlike the show, Frank is painted in a terrible light in the book.

It’s a relatively average length for chapters in Voyager, coming in at just short of 40 minutes on Audible. It makes sense for how important it is.

Let’s get into the breakdown of Voyager Chapter 19.
