Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter is told from Roger’s point of view. He walks into the room where Claire has fallen asleep. In her arms is a piece of paper that she’s holding onto.

Before he grabs the sheet, he thinks about how much Claire’s face is like glass. It’s not just about the way she says she can’t lie, but about the way her veins can be seen through her skin. He also notes how fine her bones are, and how clear they are under her skin. He thinks of them like carved ivory.

When Roger looks at the sheet, he realizes why Claire is holding onto it. Jamie’s name is on the prison manifest.

This is excellent news for him as a historian. It means that he can continue the search through the historical records. Now that there’s one mention of Jamie, there will hopefully be more.

Brianna enters the room at the end of the chapter. When Roger confirms that they’ve found Jamie, she has a smile on her face. This is her chance to learn more about her father.

This chapter really is just a way to wrap up this part of the search. After all, we know that it’s not going to be as easy as following Jamie through the prison manifests. Well, we’re about to get to know!
