Jamie takes the blame for one of his men in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 12

We continue the story in Ardsmuir Prison in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 12. It’s time for Jamie to take the blame for one of his men for having tartan, showing Lord John Grey the type of man Jamie is.

It all picks up off the back of Chapter 11, when Jamie left Lord John Grey after threatening him. Granted, John had his hand on Jamie, but John had no idea Jamie was going to react in that way. It was an innocent mistake on John’s part, as he allowed himself to be led by feeling.

This chapter showed John the type of man Jamie is, willing to take the punishment for a crime he didn’t commit. However, while Jamie does this, we also know that the men aren’t happy with the decision.

It’s a chapter that is important for the book development, mostly for John to see who Jamie really is. However, it wasn’t important enough to remain in the show. That being said, a story involving tartan was filmed but it became one of the deleted scenes for the season.

This is a relatively short chapter, coming in at less than 30 minutes on Audible. However, it’s a chapter that packs a punch in the story.

Here’s our breakdown of the Voyager chapter.
