Jamie reveals that he knows who Lord John Grey is in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 11

Jamie reveals a surprising truth to Lord John Grey during Outlander Book 3, Chapter 11. It turns out he does remember the major.

This is one of those chapters that is important for Jamie and John’s bonding. It was used for the TV show, but not exactly. Multiple chapters where John and Jamie spoke over dinner were combined into one scene, allowing for more time on other parts of various storylines.

The main points of the story were included. It’s one that shows off Jamie’s memory. He knows exactly who Lord John Grey is, remembering him from the past. It’s also a chance for Jamie to show just how much John is an honorable man.

First impressions are important. Lord John Grey left Jamie with a good one, and it’s easy to see from this how the two can become eventual friends. However, it does take time to get there.

We also get another look at John’s personality. He’s not always calm and collected, which I do adore seeing play out. It’s one of the reasons Voyager is one of my favorite books. We learn more about the individual characters, and not just from Claire’s opinions of them.

The chapter itself is relatively short. It comes in at less than 30 minutes on Audible, yet is so important for the future of the books.
