Breaking down a potential premiere date for Outlander Season 6
We recently learned that Outlander Season 6 filming is further delayed. We’re not complaining about this considering why filming is delayed. It’s important to keep the cast and crew safe and healthy.
However, it does bring up the question of when the sixth season will premiere. It’s something everyone wants to know, and we can put together a potential return date based on the idea of filming starting in January 2021.
Of course, the filming date is tentative. This makes this premiere date tentative.
We’re likely waiting until fall 2021 at the earliest
It takes a good nine months to film one season of the series. It then takes a couple of months post-production to get the show ready for airing. So, with a January 2021 filming start, we’re looking at November 2021 at the very earliest for a premiere date.
I don’t think it’s going to be that early though. We’re probably looking at January 2022 instead. There are chances that filming will have to stop partway through. We’ve already seen the likes of The Batman halt filming in the UK. For Life and All American had to half in the U.S. because of positive COVID-19 tests.
Everyone will want to air on the side of caution, so January 2022 is a more likely premiere date for Outlander Season 6 at the earliest. It could be pushed back further.
If the show comes earlier than that, it will certainly be a pleasant surprise. The way to do that could be to film half of the season and release that. While that’s airing, the second half of the season could film and then be released at a later date.
It will be interesting to see how everyone manages things this year—and not just for filming. The networks have to shift a lot.
