Jamie makes the decision to turn himself in during Outlander Book 3, Chapter 6

Outlander Book 3, Chapter 6 starts with Jamie in the cave, where he’s been for a couple of months. While he has actually visited Lallybroch a little, he’s mostly lived a solitary life.

It’s been hard for him. However, this chapter sees him make a difficult decision. As much as he cherishes his freedom, he doesn’t want to continue putting the lives of his family and tenants at risk.

The decision is made when Fergus is attacked. We see the full story play out that Roger had briefly told about the cask of ale going over the edge. Something Roger left out was what had actually happened to Fergus at the time, something that would have been left out of the history books. After all, history is written by the victors.

Of course, while Jamie is ready to turn himself in, Jenny isn’t. She doesn’t want to lose her brother, but Jamie’s mind has been made up.

We bring Part Two of Voyager to an end with this 30-minute chapter. While it’s a short chapter, it’s still important to the overall story. In fact, it has an effect on Fergus for decades to come.

It’s time to breakdown the Voyager chapter, including a look at how it was adapted for the TV series.
