We jump back to Jamie’s story in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 4
We head back to the past in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 4. It’s time to see what Jamie did in his years in hiding.
The chapter picks up in 1752, with Jamie heading back to Lallybroch for a shave. We get a few details of what his life was like living in solitary for weeks at a time, but we also get a real sense of danger for everyone at Lallybroch, including the tenants.
It marks the first chapter of Part Two, and the shortest of the chapters at less than 20 minutes.. There are three chapters in this part in total, all taking place with Jamie at Lallybroch. However, the next part also sticks with Jamie.
There’s no way this chapter couldn’t be used in the series, but it does receive some heavy adaptation. The book limits itself to just Jamie’s POV. That means we have no idea what’s really happening around Lallybroch except whatever Jamie hears or sees. The TV series offered us the chance to see the story from other characters.
It’s time to break down Voyager Chapter 4, as we get closer to Jamie heading to prison and forming the friendship with Lord John Grey.
