We get a look at where William is in the latest Outlander Book 9 Daily Lines

We turn our attention to William Ransom in the latest Outlander Book 9 Daily Lines snippet. Where has he ended up in the latest part of the story?

One thing to note is the hashtags in the tease that Diana Gabaldon has provided in the latest snippets. She’s making it clear that the novel isn’t finished yet. She’s close to it, but it’s not with the publishers just yet. Those book covers and release dates you’re seeing right now are not confirmed.

However, that doesn’t stop us from enjoying the sneak peek of the ninth book. We get a small section on William, Jamie’s son and Lord John Grey’s adopted son. He becomes a bigger part of the books later on in the series, and his part only grows in Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone based on the small snippets we’ve been getting.

What happens to William in the latest Outlander Book 9 snippet?

We picked up with William after he’s been beaten. It turns out that he won at a game of cards and those who lost against him want some revenge.

The British Army finds him and saves him by the looks of the chapter, which is where we pick up with things. There are a few details that we learn, including the fact that William has resigned his commission.

There is the suspicion that he’s going to switch sides. This is the point of the Revolutionary War when tensions are at their highest. There’s no way of knowing which side will win at this point (especially not for those living in the moment). Both sides can just hope that they’ll be successful.

William, now knowing that he’s Jamie’s illegitimate son, could opt to switch sides to fight with Jamie. Would he do such a thing or has he just lost faith in the British Army because of Lord John Grey? After all, William is angry that Lord John Grey had kept such a big secret from him. It’s a little like Brianna’s reaction to learning about her true parentage.

The name Randall pops up

There is a name that will be interesting to many Outlander fans. The Daily Lines includes the name Denys Randall.

Who could this be? Well, it is certainly a connection to a certain Black Jack Randall.

Denys is introduced in An Echo to the Bone and then comes up against in Written In My Own Hearts Blood. He is the son of Mary Hawkins and Alexander Randall, although people believe that Jonathan Randall is his father due to Mary’s hasty marriage to the captain.

If he’s still around in Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, things could certainly get interesting.
