Just the Outlander chapter
Claire, Roger, and Brianna head to Craigh na Dun. Despite Brianna being angry with her mother and not really believing anything, she does agree to go along and stop Gillian. After all, maybe in her mind she thinks Gillian is a mad woman who is going to need some help.
During the car ride, Claire thinks about everything that is needed for traveling through the stones. There’s a mention of sacrifices. Geillis believes that some sort of sacrifice is needed, but can’t decide whether it’s blood or fire. It isn’t all that surprising to Claire at the end when she realizes Gillian has chosen both—she kills her husband by slitting his throat and then burns him.
As the three watch Gillian go through the stones, Roger and Brianna hear everything. It’s clear that they can travel. Roger is even entranced and walks towards the stones, so Brianna has to pull him away.
Claire has passed out, so Roger and Bree get her back to the manse. There, they can call for the police, who put out a warrant for Gillian’s arrest. It’s not like they’ll find her, but they’re not going to believe that Gillian went to the past!
When Claire wakes, Roger tells her something that he found out about Culloden. Jamie did manage to get his men away from the battle. They returned to Lallybroch, which makes Claire happy.
However, Jamie failed in one thing. He didn’t die at Culloden. We’re pushed into the third book to find out what’s next for Claire and Jamie.
