5 best Jamie moments from Outlander Season 1, Episode 7
Jamie’s standout moments from Outlander Season 1, Episode 7
Jamie and Claire married on Outlander Season 1, Episode 7. It was the episode that everyone had been waiting for, and certainly didn’t disappoint.
To mark the anniversary of the episode, we’re looking back at Jamie’s best moments. There were certainly some excellent ones, making it difficult to choose. However, there are some throughout the episode that show the type of man he is and wants to be.
Here are my five favorite Jamie moments from Outlander Season 1, Episode 7.
Trying to make Claire calm
He knows that Claire is nervous on her wedding night. However, he won’t force himself on her. He knows that they need to consummate it, and nobody is going to leave the party until the know that consummation has definitely happened. He’s just not the type of man who holds with rape.
So, he takes his time. We see him answering Claire’s questions, discussing his family, and sharing what he did in the lead up to the wedding. It’s important to show us the type of man he is deep down.
Asking Murtagh if Ellen would like Claire
While Jamie did want to marry Claire, he also wanted to make sure he was doing the right thing. He asks Murtagh about Ellen. Would his mother like Claire? Would she have approved of this marriage?
Murtagh is honest. Fortunately, it’s the answer Jamie wanted to hear. But this moment shows us that Jamie wants to make sure he’s doing the right thing, and he is nervous about making his parents disappointed, even though they’re dead.

Making the day special
Jamie only plans on marrying the once. Of course, we know that he ends up marrying again, but that’s another matter. On Outlander Season 1, Episode 7, he only plans on marrying Claire and being with her for the rest of his days. So, he needs to do this right.
Making the day special isn’t just about making it a good day for Claire. Sure, he does go the extra mile for her, but he also wants to make it a day for him to remember. He’s a romantic at heart.
His first time
Jamie had seen naked women before, but never touched one. He’d never had a naked woman who was his before, so his first time is already exciting and thrilling. It’s also passionate but hilarious at the same time. The thought of doing it like horses was so sweet, and just shows us how uneducated he is in certain ways (and that’s not a bad thing here).
He learns, though; and he is a quick study. Claire liked the first time, but she enjoyed the second time much more.
Giving Claire the pearls
After consummating their marriage and getting to know each other more, Jamie has a gift for Claire. He gives her the pearls that belonged to his mother. It’s all he has of Ellen, and now they belong to his wife.
This is a huge step. He’s making it clear that he is in this marriage for good. He wants Claire to love him, and he loves Claire. It sets us up for so much great stuff in the future.
