Jamie’s 5 standout moments from the Outlander Season 3 premiere

The Outlander Season 3 premiere brought us the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden. This wasn’t about the loss of the land and the Highland way of life, but the way the dying men were treated afterward.

There are some excellent moments that stand out with each rewatch. Something I came to appreciate more was Hal Grey’s treatment of the prisoners. Like Lieutenant Jeremy Foster, he reminded us that there were gentlemen and good guys in the British Army.

However, this isn’t about that. This is about Jamie and his top moments from the Outlander Season 3 premiere as we mark the anniversary of the first airing. It was an excellently crafted episode, and here are my favorite Jamie moments.

Time standing still

During the flashbacks, we get this moment where time seems to stand still for Jamie. He looks across the battlefield to see Black Jack Randall there. At the same time, Black Jack Randall sees Jamie.

Nothing matters around them anymore. Jamie will take his revenge finally. He will get his chance to kill Black Jack Randall, even if it means his death at the same time.

There’s clear determination in Jamie’s face. All he wants is to duel against Black Jack Randall. This time he knows the outcome. He knows that Black Jack Randall will die, and he’s sure that he will die at the same time. The latter does matter, as long as the former does.
