Will Claire lose her awesome apprentice during Outlander Season 6?
If there’s one awesome thing about Outlander Season 5, it’s that we got to see Marsali become more of an integral role. She became Claire’s apprentice, and it’s something we’d love to see more of on Outlander Season 6.
For many storylines, we’d be able to look at the books to get an idea. However, Marsali taking such an active role in Claire’s surgery isn’t part of the books. It’s impossible to look at the source material to see which way the show is going to take this storyline.
All we can do is look at what could possibly happen based on where Marsali is in her life now. It all comes down to her actions with Lionel Brown, her fears of going to hell, and her current pregnancy.
Marsali may try to remain in her role
At first, there’s a good chance that Marsali will try to remain Claire’s apprentice. She’ll want to move past what she did, knowing that she did it to protect her family. Claire is her Ma, and she needed to protect her Ma from a man who had already harmed her.
However, Marsali’s actions are already playing on her mind. She asked Jamie if she was going to hell because of her actions.
I’d imagine these thoughts will play on her mind more. She’ll possibly see herself performing the actions over and over again or dream of being sent to hell because of what she did. This could make her take a step back from being Claire’s apprentice.
The birth of her fourth child could play a role
Marsali may not initially want to step back from being Claire’s apprentice. She has enjoyed her work in the surgery, taking in the learning experience. Her actions to protect Claire may not make her want to quit.
What may make her step away is the birth of her fourth child. This is where some book spoilers will play a part.
Marsali gives birth to Henri-Christian, who is born a dwarf. While we now know it’s due to chromosomes, that’s not what Marsali will believe. She’ll likely believe that it’s punishment for her actions, even if Claire explains the truth.
Not only will Marsali blame herself, but Henri-Christian will need some extra care. She may realize that she needs to step away from her work to care for her son. Or maybe Claire realizes that Marsali needs to step away.
I’d love to see Marsali remain in that role of apprentice. Seeing her and Claire bond so much has been amazing. I just don’t see it lasting throughout Outlander Season 6. I’d love it if the show proves me wrong.
